Hand-Sew Your Own Jeans with Linen from The Linen Project

July 2 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Not too long ago, creating clothing involved a lot of hand work. This was a lengthy process, aside from the fact that the textile itself had to grow first. Since 2018, The Linen Project has been growing flax to produce linen, both manually and mechanically. In haute couture, everything is made by hand, requiring a great deal of knowledge, skill and patience.

Upon many requests, we are organising a course during State of Fashion to sew your own jeans by hand, using the beautiful linen from The Linen Project. Using the beautiful linen from The Linen Project. You will sew your jeans entirely by hand. You will start by adjusting the pattern to your own size. All subsequent steps, such as creating a fly, attaching pockets, the waistband, will be clearly explained so that by the end of the course, you can wear your own jeans.

Experience in sewing is recommended for this course, but if you have no experience, you will need to do preparatory homework.

Patricia Kooijman studied at the KABK in The Hague. She worked for twenty years in the creative studio of a jeans brand, creating clothing and producing shows and objects for marketing purposes. Creating from making has always been her preference; the possibilities of a piece of fabric still fascinate her after all these years.

Cost: €450,-, student price €375,- (use discount code ‘studentjeans’) including linen from The Linen Project worth €140,-, custom-made pattern and sewing thread.
Duration of the workshop is 5 or 6 days
